Acupuncture Treatment for pain

Acupuncture Treatment for pain

Description:

Pain comes from different sources and shows up in different ways.  It is always valuable to try and learn what the root causes of a person’s pain may be.  Sometimes the pain is physical, such as Osteoarthritis.  Sometimes the pain is psychological, emotional, behavioral or chemical.  Your Acupuncture provider will want to talk with you to discuss your pain and to evaluate its root causes whenever possible.  Your provider will discuss a treatment plan that may involve a consultation with your primary care physician or another specialist to help in the process.

In the case of pain that has been safely diagnosed, your Acupuncturist will want to help you feel at ease by explaining the treatment process.  The Acupuncturist will want to relieve your pain in the local area first, then they will want to address other areas which are either caused by the pain or causing the pain.

Acupuncture, which comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine, involves a system of theories involving the body’s energy, known as Chi.   Chi is thought to move throughout the body by way of various channels known as meridians, which have spots or points, known as acupuncture points.  It is by treating these acupuncture points according to the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine that an effective treatment is based upon.

Each Acupuncturist is trained in Acupuncture Points from the Traditional Chinese Meridian system, while some may use additional points such as the Master Tung system, etc.

It is always important to ensure that your Acupuncturist is properly licensed, all supplies are sterile, and the work environment is clean.  You are always encouraged to discuss and learn the style of Acupuncture that your Acupuncturist may be using and to find out if that is appropriate for you.
